Of course, you may prefer to do the opposite and pay your car loan off over a shorter period.

Usually, the longer you take to pay off a car loan, the higher the overall amount of interest will be.

Buying a car this way means that you own the car outright from the day you make the purchase, as the finance is not secured against the vehicle. This also gives you the flexibility to sell the car before all the finance is paid off.
